Rubrik has announced Agent Rewind, software that provides visibility into agent actions and enables enterprises to undo agent mistakes by rewinding changes to applications and data.

Announced August 12, Agent Rewind combines Predibase AI infrastructure (acquired by Rubrik in June) with Rubrik recovery capabilities, enabling enterprises to embrace agentic AI confidently, according to Rubrik. Users will get a clear process to trace, audit, and safely rewind undesired AI actions, the company said.

Rubrik said that AI agents possess significant potential but, like humans, are prone to mistakes, sometimes resulting in significant business disruption. Recent incidents of AI agent errors have resulted in problems ranging from technical malfunction and legal issues to the deletion of entire production databases. A recent study by Carnegie Mellon University found that AI agents frequently become disoriented, choose incorrect shortcuts, and struggle to complete simple, multi-step tasks, revealing critical flaws that undermine the agents’ effectiveness and reliability. Agent Rewind makes AI actions visible, auditable, and reversible, creating an audit trail and immutable snapshots that facilitate safe rollback, Rubrik said.

Agent Rewind offers the following features, according to the company:

  • Context-enriched visibility that surfaces agent behavior, tool use, and impact while contextualizing each action, mapping it back to its root cause, from prompts to plans to tools. This enables precise recovery when something goes wrong, Rubrik said.
  • Safe rollback that uses Rubrik Security Cloud to rewind files, databases, configurations, or repositories that were changed.
  • Broad compatibility with a wide range of platforms, APIs, and agent builders including Agentforce, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and Amazon Bedrock Agents. Agent Rewind will be compatible with any custom AI agent, Rubrik said.

Rubrik has opened a waitlist for early access to Agent Rewind.
