WebSeQuel and WebCharts access and analyze <BR> corporate info for publishing on intranets
San Francisco (December 2, 1996) โ Infospace Inc. today announced new Java-based applications aimed at accessing and analyzing corporate information, and publishing it over an intranet.
The new software products, called WebSeQueL 1.5 and WebCharts 2.0, provide connections to databases without requiring client software installation, configuration, or maintenance, officials said. Written entirely in Java, WebSeQueL and WebCharts allow users to access database information using any Java-enabled browser.
WebSeQuel 1.5 is a database publishing tool which allows users to build SQL statements and design, run and publish online queries and reports. The new version includes support for logical auto-joins based on primary and foreign keys, the ability to import and export SQL statements, and has templates for customizing report output.
Infospace also announced that WebSeQueL 2.0 will support access to IBMโs DB2 databases. IBM will include an evaluation copy of WebSeQueL 2.0 with its RS/6000 Web Server Software Sampler, which ships on every IBM Internet PowerSolution for AIX servers, officials said.
WebCharts 2.0 is a charting application for interactive 2D and 3D data visualization and analysis on the Web. It enables users to convert relational and multi-dimensional data into interactive Java charts, graphs, and tables, officials said. Through a browser interface, users can switch between chart types, resize, rotate, and transpose chart output and sort, sub-select, and translate data points. New features include a Java API and a streamlined 2D-only version, as well as a link to CGI scripts on the back end.
Both products are available immediately for download off the Infospace Web site at https://www.infospace-inc.com, officials said. Pricing for WebSeQueL starts at US95 per concurrent user, with a 10-user minimum. WebSeQueL designer seats are priced starting at 95 and additional โview-onlyโ licenses are priced at 9. Pricing for WebCharts starts at 95 for a 10-named user pack.
